Behind the Beans: Crafting a Coffee Label for Clean Insights

Let’s find a fun way to promote it!

Maybe we our own coffee or tea … our director at Guardian Project, n8fr8, shared this idea in a project scrum for Clean Insights. Inspired by Dr. Bronner’s approach to inject philosophy into mundane moments of life, like cleaning or bathing—our team set n8fr8 as our lead ranting scribe. Weaving together our philosophical ideas about capital surveillance and how we believe people and data should be treated by tech, we worked together to write and edit the musings on the coffee label.

Yes. Humans are being packaged and sold as predictive products. And yes. 30 years of must have it all adware/spyware/malware must stop. Grab a bag and read the full manifesto!

Now for the art

We owe a huge thanks to Ink Giant, for bringing the label to life. We were aiming for a tone that goes against the typical grain of cyber security.

The tone can easily go dire and serious. We wanted to peak curiosity. So the result had to balance the serious tone while giving it almost a “School House Rock” vibrancy to captivate people.

And last but not least — the coffee itself

  • If you’re receiving from the US, you’ll enjoy Monomyth Coffee, roasting out of Lubbock Texas. Our friends at Monomyth lovingly craft everything they produce. Enjoy the fruit of their gifts.

  • If you’re receiving from the UK or Europe, you’ll enjoy a fine selection of coffee from Pact.
